Lawrence, we ordered about 5 pambozos between all of us there so they might have put together a less exciting version since they were doing so many of them at one time. I just went to red hook earlier this month and enjoyed all of it as usual. I may try to go again next week if you are interested. I need some goat tacos. I haven't had any in way too long now. Other food trips I want to do are a couple trips to Jackson Heights and a trip out to Flushing. And eventually try to find some Trinidadian doubles somewhere.

Great review! I'm honored that I was an inspiration to you. Setting out on the Sunset Park tour, my eyes were much bigger than my stomach. There were about four other places I wanted to hit but just didn't have the fortitude for or really the desire after downing that entire Pambazo. I'm disappointed it wasn't up to snuff; I definitely made it known to the chef on duty that day that I had never had a Pambazo before and when they saw me taking photos, they asked me what it was for and maybe that spurned a better-than-usual Pambazo. I guess I'll have to try it again and see if that's the case. There's too much good Mexican out there to still try to go all the way back to Xochimilco. But again, I'm honored you were inspired, thanks for the shout out. We should get together a tour of some sort next time around. Have you been out to Red Hook? Next weekend is the last weekend!

[...] This past weekend when I went up to Arthur Avenue, I mentioned that I bought 2 pounds of cheese curds as well as fresh mozzarella from Casa Della Mozzarella. This week I made a couple attempts to make mozzarella in my own kitchen. The first one failed miserably and while the cheese had great flavor it had the texture of a car tire. I promptly tossed it away and decided to try with the curds again last night following the recipe from Fias Co Farms. [...]

Sunburnt Cow has great drinks but I dont recommend their brunch - when I went with some friends the omelette was half cooked and we got fatty undercooked bacon when we specifically asked for well done but they did give us a free round of specialty drinks to make up for it.

If I remember correctly you did the $50 pairings, right? When I go back, I'll try that one instead of the $85 pairing. I liked having a different beverage for each course, but I just didn't feel they were matched as well as they should have been for the price.

Tim, thanks for the tip, but I want a solution where I host my own photos on my own server. With picasa as well as flickr I am pretty sure all the images are hosted on their servers instead. Anyhow, I checked the forums for Dreamhost and I didn't find many reports about people complaining about either Gallery2 or Wordpress which they have single-click installations for so it should be easy to set up as soon as I have the time.

Thanks! I am planning on making it again for a family potluck when I go home at the end of this month.

Next dinner party will probably be in late March. I think braised lamb shanks will be the main course.

The proceeds are actually going to a Slow Food program called "Harvest Time"...not City Harvest. The Slow Food program helps raise awareness of nutrition in school districts by teaching kids about good, clean, healthy fare. They have also organized farmers markets on the school grounds in places like Harlem and Marcy.
